The first time we launched the prototype with the sound simulator switched off, the test driver lifted at 140 km/h. Nothing was wrong. He simply did not believe the speed.
The problem with silence
A petrol engine tells you everything: load, speed, how close you are to the limit. Without it, the brain looks for another source. We found it was the light.

In the X1 a thin line runs around the base of the windscreen. It grows with speed and turns red as you approach the grip limit. Drivers stopped lifting.
Learning to trust it
Every owner spends a morning with our test drivers before taking delivery. By lunch most of them stop talking about the silence. By dinner, they are the ones who ask us not to add sound.
