Design
Drawnin light.
We never drew the X1 in a bright room. Every surface was judged by one moving lamp in a black studio — the way you will first see it at night.

(01) — The studio
Two hundredsketches, one line.
Our design team works on Via Nizza, in the old body shop of a coachbuilder. The wooden buck in the middle of the room is the same scale as the car.
Out of two hundred sketches, one line survived: from the nose, over the canopy, to the red horizon at the tail.
(02) — Head of design
“If a line needs a chrome strip to be noticed, it is the wrong line.”

Colour ischarge.
Every paint is mixed in Turin and judged under three lights. Interior lighting, calipers and the charge display change with it.
A white with a blue shadow. Looks cold in the day, warm under lamps.
Our signal colour, the same as the rear horizon.
Developed for the Corsa pack. Seen from a kilometre away.
Three layers, one of them glass flakes.
Turns black in the shade, violet in the sun.
Satin black with carbon visible underneath.
