The first prototype weighed 243 grams. It was comfortable, it was fast, and it felt like carrying a sandwich on each foot.
Where the grams were
We cut the shoe in half — literally, with a band saw — and weighed every part. Glue: 19 grams. Overlays: 22. A plastic heel counter: 14. None of them were helping anyone run.
The three grams we put back
Without the heel counter the heel slipped on wet cobbles. So we put back a 4 g clip — and took a gram out of the laces to stay under 183.
