312 feet of Rotterdam runners, scanned in 3D. One average foot that belongs to nobody.
Forty-one knit programmes until the upper weighed less than 75 g and still held a heel.
The mould is cut, the foam baked. A thousand drop tests a day on the striker.
Eleven team runners, 312 runs, every bridge and every tunnel. Rain, mostly.
Every pair gets its number printed on the heel tab: 0001 to 1000.

The Lab opens to everyone on Saturdays from ten to four. Run the roof track in any colourway, stand on the striker, watch the knitting machine.
