One house,
two kites,eleven seasons

VELARA started as a shared house in Paje with two kites between four friends and no plan beyond the end of the season. We never wrote a business plan; we just kept coming back.

Eleven seasons later it is four spots and eighteen coaches — and the group size has not changed once.

What we believe
And what we refuse to do

We are not a resort with a kite school attached. We are a school that happens to stand on a very good beach. Everything else — the rooms, the food, the sunset boat — exists because it makes the teaching work better, not the other way round.

Principles

Three rules
we never bend

They cost us money every season. They are also the reason people come back.

Four per coach

Not five when someone begs, not six in high season. Beyond four people a coach stops teaching and starts supervising.

Water on day one

No two-day theory blocks. You feel the kite pull within the first two hours, because that is what actually teaches you.

Honest forecasts

If the wind statistics for your dates are bad, we say so and offer different ones — even when that means an empty bed in the house.

The camp house

Eight rooms,
one long table

Everyone eats together. It sounds like a small detail and it is the single thing guests mention most in reviews — the trip works because the group becomes a group by day two.

  • Beachfront in Paje, fifty metres from the gear shed
  • Breakfast and dinner cooked in-house, every day
  • A terrace built for the evening video reviews

Coaches

Eighteen people hold an IKO licence with us. These five run the spots — each of them spends more than two hundred days a year on the water.
