Why so few and so slowly
Every piece goes through seven stages: throwing, drying, the first firing, sanding, glazing, the second firing and inspection. Between them is time that cannot be shortened: raw clay dries for five days, or it tears in the kiln.
The kiln holds fifteen pieces and is fired once a week. About two pieces in each batch fail — a crack, a run, a chip. We do not sell those even at a discount.
That is why the shop has ten items rather than three hundred. But what is there sits on the shelf and leaves for you tomorrow.
