Casting the show
Two hundred faces, twenty-four walks: how we chose the people who wear SS27.
Casting started in May with two hundred people, most of them not professional models: architects, cooks, a cellist, a boxer.
Everyone walked the same twenty metres of masking tape in our studio, twice, once fast and once slow. We filmed only from the side.
We were looking for a walk that makes a coat move: a long stride, quiet shoulders, a head that does not bob.
“We do not cast faces. We cast walks.”
Twenty-four made the show. Eleven had never walked a runway. Exit 01 is a sound engineer from Turin.
Each look was then fitted on its walker, not on a size. The trousers of Look 04 were lengthened by three centimetres the night before.
The cast walks again at the Paris store opening in March. We kept every one of them.
