Three years of iris
Why the most expensive note in Iris Nocturne spends three years in a dark barn.
Fresh iris rhizomes smell of earth and nothing else. The scent only develops as they dry, slowly, for three years.
Then they are ground, steam-distilled and the result is a butter that costs more than gold by weight.
We use it at 4% in Iris Nocturne. Most houses use a synthetic. You can smell the difference after an hour.
