Orbit started as a ground-station company that could not find imagery fresh enough to be worth receiving.
We spent 2019 building receiving hardware for other people's satellites and kept running into the same wall: by the time a customer could act on a scene, the scene was two days old and the question had changed.
So we bought pass time, then a constellation share, then wrote the pipeline that sits between them. The antennas are still the part we are proudest of.
The company is based in Lisbon, with ground stations in Iceland, Chile, Kenya, Singapore, Western Australia and four other places that are mostly notable for being cold and quiet.
