Why 001 is never sold
Number 001 stays in the studio. It is the one every other figure is checked against: colour, gloss, the line of the visor.

You choose your number when the drop opens. Birthdays, house numbers, lucky numbers — first come, first served. Crew Club pilots get a day's head start.
The number is printed under the left boot and on the certificate inside the hatch box.
