How to hang fourteen paintings
Three days, two ladders and one rule: the eye must never rest.
Every show starts on paper: a 1:50 model of the hall with tiny printed paintings that we move around for a week.
For Loud Colour the rule was simple: no two warm works side by side, and every wall must be seen from the door.
The largest painting, Siren, needed six people and a scissor lift. It hangs eleven centimetres higher than the others.

“We hang a show four times before we hang it once.”
Lighting comes last. Every work gets its own spot, focused by hand from the top of a ladder.
On the last night the artist walks the show alone. Okafor moved one painting. It was the right call.
Then we paint the floor where the ladders scratched it.
